Baptism is the first sacrament in the Catholic faith. It is the sacrament of 'water and the Spirit,' welcoming the recipient into Christ's Church and a parish family here on earth. Expectant or new parents should contact Father and expect to attend a baptism class to learn more about the sacrament and register their child to receive it here at St. Anthony's. Parents who have had a child baptized at St. Anthony's in the last three years or those who have additional questions can contact staff in the parish office instead.
Adults who have been baptized in another faith or who would like to explore beginning the process of joining the Catholic Church should contact our OCIA Coordinator to discuss attending the adult initiation classes at St. Anthony's.
The second sacrament of initiation in the Catholic faith, Confirmation strengthens and increases the gifts received in baptism. The Fargo Diocese has restored the order of this sacrament to coincide with teachings and order of most areas of the world. Children are exposed to secular temptations at an early age in life - we certainly desire our youth are strengthened in the Holy Spirit soon after receiving reconciliation. Typically children are confirmed in third grade within our diocese. If you or a child is in third grade or older, please contact our Religious Education Coordinator to begin preparations to be confirmed.
The sacrament of reconciliation has been given to us by Christ as a means to be reunited with Him and absolved of our sins. This sacrament of healing is made available at St. Anthony's on weekdays, Saturdays, and by appointment.
Any time you or a loved one has experience a grave illness or is scheduled to undergo major surgery you may contact the parish office to schedule an appointment to be anointed. Any time a person is admitted to the hospital please be sure to inform the administration you are a Catholic and member of St. Anthony of Padua church in Fargo. You may also contact us directly at 701-237-6063 to inform us of any needs you have.
The sacrament of marriage is the sacred bond between one man and one woman. More than a legal contract, the covenental bond of marriage is a vocation in which each spouse gives him or herself as a free, total, faithful gift to the other with an openness to the fruits of that bond. To enter into this lifelong union, please contact the Parish Office at least six months prior to your intended marriage date.
All people have a call from God, and for some, that call may be to the priesthood or religious life. It is important that we discern our call to service. For guidance in your discernment we encourage you to contact the diocesan office for vocations.
